Position Overview:
This is a unique opportunity combining mentoring and coaching abilities with meaningful disability employment support.
Based at our specialist host site Kennedy's Timber in Narangba, you will coach, lead and supervise a small team of our supported employees with disabilities to build workplace skills, confidence and independence while achieving their employment goals.
In this role, we are seeking a team leader that will be comfortable in working in a Timber Mill environment, you will be overseeing and guiding the team to recycle, reclaim & stack timber for processing and other tasks within the timber yard. This role will be hands on and suitable for someone with good physical strength, capable of working in the heat and dusty environment. You will lead with empathy to create a safe, inclusive, and productive environment where everyone can thrive.
This role is 4 days per week Tuesday to Friday 7.30am to 3.30pm.
What You'll Do
- Lead & support the team in timber processing activities, removing metal from various sizes of reclaimed wood using tools such as chisels, hand drills, and pliers.
- Lead & support the team to measure, prepare, and stack timber for kiln processing, ensuring quality standards and production targets are met.
- Champion workplace safety, applying Safe Work Practices and WHS guidelines to protect all team members—especially those you support.
- Act as the key liaison with the Hosted Site Supervisor, driving performance, motivating the team, and supporting the site to meet production targets.
- Be a proactive problem solver, capable of leading without other management onsite from endeavour foundation.
- Support & Liaise with the site Employment Coach to develop team members, creating an inclusive environment focused on ability, respect, and achievement in preparation for open employment opportunities
- Foster a workplace culture that is inclusive, respectful, and focused on ability and achievement to support our employee’s goals
What You'll Bring
- Forklift License an advantage but not essential
- Strong leader confidence in supporting someone with a disability to achieve skills in the timber industry to progress in an inclusive environment to be confident in setting people up to move to open employment in the future.
- The ideal candidate would be someone who has worked with hand tools before as they would be guiding our Supported Employee's to recycle, reclaim & stack timber for processing
- A genuine passion for inclusion, purpose-driven work, and empathetic leadership.
- Physical fitness to be on feet all day and in hot conditions.
- Willingness to obtain required checks: Blue Card, Yellow Card, National Criminal History Check, and a valid Driver's License.
